Warm Toned Eyeshadows + Tarte Tartelette Toasted Thoughts

Hey guys and happy Saturday! Sorry to be mia yesterday, my family went for a little overnight outing, so we were a wee bit busy. Today we’re going to discuss warm toned eyeshadow palettes as well as my thoughts on the new Tarte Tartelette Toasted eyeshadow palette. Warm toned eyeshadows are all the rage right now, and I’m not mad at it. Warm tones are my personal favorite since they flatter my undertone more so than cool toned shadows, which tend to make me look sick. Today I’m going to show you swatches of the warm toned palettes I own. Hopefully, if you’ve been looking at getting one, this post will help you decide which might be right for you! So, let’s go ahead and get into it.

First we’re going to discuss the new Tarte Tartelette Toasted palette, let’s take a gander, shall we?

I think Tarte nailed it with this palette, it’s well-rounded, user-friendly, and easy to create complete looks with. I think this palette is suitable for beginners but in general, anyone would enjoy it. Two BIG thumbs up from me!

Next up is the Tarte Pro To Go palette. This is a mini palette but it packs a punch, with almost everything you need to create a complete look (missing a cream/white shade, in my opinion) I think this little palette is a top contender! The formula here is pigmented, smooth and the shadows blend nicely. While this palette doesn’t scream warm toned, the main crease shade pulls warm, there’s a nice gold, a few neutral shades and some nice plummy jewel tones. I think this palette is great for those just dipping their toes in the shadow game, or anyone that doesn’t wanna drop big bucks on a palette (it will only run you $23.00!).

Next is the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette. Again, this palette is beautiful, pigmented, easy to work with, and has everything you need for daytime looks to dark nighttime looks. This palette isn’t primarily warm like some we’re going to discuss but there are definitely quite a few warm toned shades in it. The mix of warm, neutral and cool make it more versatile for more people. I think this palette would suit most anyone from beginner to advanced, highly recommend!

Next is another Too Faced palette, the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes. This is one of my top favorites in terms of eye shadow palettes. It’s got everything I need to create simple, light daytime appropriate looks but also, dark nighttime looks. I love the shade selection, I love the formula, it smells like a peach, I think this palette is really user-friendly and easy to work with. 10/10 would highly recommend! 🙂

Next is the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette. *Le sigh* This palette is the most aesthetically pleasing to my eye, I think it’s the most intriguing and most beautiful to look at, but? This beaut is not user-friendly and I would say, not for beginners. I would actually venture to say that Urban Decay shadows in general aren’t for beginners. They are REALLLLLLY pigmented and you’ve gotta be careful and know how to blend. I absolutely love this palette, I think it’s the most unique warm toned palette that I’ve tried. The metallics in this palette are so unique and even the darker mattes, I’ve never seen anything like them. Who is this for? A makeup lover with some experience in blending. Haha! This is a palette I’ll go to for a nighttime dramatic eye, I don’t usually gravitate to it for daytime looks but I can definitely make it work… and it’s worth it for those stunning metallic shades.

Last up is the Colourpop Yes, Please! palette. Since I just did a full review on this palette (that was actually my last post! Go check it out if you want the full on nitty-gritty), I’m going to cut straight to the chase, I don’t think this palette is necessarily the best for beginners, I think this one leans SO warm that it can get “I have the flu and am sick” really quickly (haha!). Similar to the Urban Decay, this one almost leans completely orangey/red with not much else to work it and that can sometimes be challenging to work with. This palette is nice and I’ve achieved some really pretty looks with it but be careful if you’re still new to the eyeshadow game (but really, do whatever you want, there are no rules in makeup!). Bonus? This will only cost you $16.00, and the quality competes with these high-end shadow palettes (with a few small caveats… see my full review for those details), win win! Overall, nicely done Colourpop.

To sum it all up! My favorite palette of all of these is probably the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes palette, I reach for it almost everyday that I wear makeup because it’s so versatile and blends so easily. If I want a pop of shimmer, I just reach for the highlight I’m using that day, use my finger to pop a little on the center of the lid, and in the inner corner. My other favorite is the Tarte Tartelette Toasted palette, I think it’s really well-rounded and easy to use. If I was going to recommend one to a beginner, I’d say the Tarte Tartelette Toasted palette, for sure. I love all of these palettes here though so if one catches your eye, it’s got my stamp of approval and I recommend it! With that, we conclude this review, swatchfest, warm toned palette goodness. Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to chatting again on Tuesday! 5 Favorites for October

Hey hey hey, it’s Friday! YAYYYY! We made it through another week, HUZZAH! Today we’re going to discuss my 5 favorites of October, of course I probably had more than just 5 favorites during the month of October but I had to narrow it somewhere and 5 seemed appropriate. My favorites won’t always be beauty related things but for this month they are! Can’t wait to share them with you and hope you enjoy. 🙂

First up, a blush I have loved for a lonnnnng time but just pulled out again this month and have been really enjoying it. The blush is called Madly, by Nars. It’s a beautiful satin formula, and goes on as a dusty warm dusty rose shade, it is a STUNNER and will suit many skintones. Nars makes some of my favorite powder products, they seem to always nail it, feast your eyes upon this baby…

Isn’t she lovely? Yes, yes she is. 😉

And next, we’re talking highlight. If you know me, you know I love highlight, it’s my favorite makeup product ever, I love to apply it, it livens up my dull dry skin and keeps skin looking youthful (dry, dull = aging. glowy, radiance = youth). I love to sweep highlight on the high points of my cheekbones (just under the outer corner of my eye and up round the temple creating a c shape, bring it down and blend toward the apple of the cheek but not all the way in (remember, typically, the farther toward your nose, the more visible pores are. You’ll want to keep this area more matte!). Okay, so let’s talk about my, quite possibly, favorite highlighter of ALL TIME. It’s glowy and reflective and just absolutely stunning!

Are you seeing what I’m seeing? This is Makeup Geek Highlighter in the shade Luster. At first when I received it I didn’t think I was going to be a fan, it looked REALLY pink and dark, but when you get this on the cheeks, it transforms into glossy goodness. Beautiful. Makeup Geek carries a huge range of highlight shades for very fair to deep skin tones so everyone can get their hands on and enjoy this gorgeous formula. I own a few but Luster is definitely my favorite!

Let’s talk about that base… foundation base! I have been testing a new foundation for about 2 months now, Bareminerals BarePRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation with SPF 20, I’ve got mine in the shade Champagne 03. This foundation gives a solid medium coverage on me, doesn’t feel heavy, sets down to a nice natural finish, smooths out my skin and wears beautifully ALL DAY. I also want to mention that this hasn’t caused any breakouts or weirdness, I have really sensitive, reactive skin and this foundation hasn’t caused any reactions. A plus plus!

I’m going out-of-order here but next we’ll discuss primer. The Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer is a FAB pore and wrinkle smoother! Now, I don’t have majorly large pores and just a few fine lines but I really love how this stuff smooths my skin for makeup application. I apply it right after washing and moisturizing my face and by the end of the day, my makeup still looks flawless, highly recommend. I bought the smaller “travel size” at Sephora, you don’t need a whole lot (the amount you see in the picture is how much I typically use) so I think this should last me a while!

Last, but certainly not least is bronzer. I have been loving the No7 Match Made bronzer, mine is in the shade Caramel. This bronzer comes in 3 different shades, I have the middle shade here purely because I prefer the tone of it over the lightest. None of the 3 shades available are very dark so unfortunately, if you do have deeper skin, I don’t know that you’ll find a shade deep enough, hopefully No7 will come out with more color options soon because this stuff is stunning! It blends out beautifully, wears all day, it’s described as matte but I think it looks satin, definitely not shimmery or glittery but very natural looking. Beautiful!

There you have it folks, my 5 favorites for the month of October! I’ll be posting 5 favorites on the last Friday of each month so look for a new 5 favorites in November! The blush, primer and foundation are available at Sephora, Makeup Geek highlight is available at makeupgeek.com and bronzer is available at Target. Thanks for reading friends, we’ll chat again on Tuesday, hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
